Microsoft Copilot: What it is and What it is not.
Copilot with Microsoft Dynamics & Power Platform
Copilot? Azure OpenAl? Generative Al. All hot topics, I agree but let's start with the basics and clear some misconceptions about Copilot.
✅It is not only a standalone product; It is more than that. It is a term used to describe intelligent Al capabilities within Microsoft ecosystem of products & solutions. You can say Al in Microsoft experience bringing together Al capabilities that is specific to each of the Microsoft product where it is used.
It powerfully brings Al into the context of where you are working and what you are working on. However, there is also a standalone form of it that can be used for normal generative AI stuff. https://copilot.microsoft.com/
Examples of Copilot in action:
💼 Dynamics 365 Sales - It has features like Al generated summaries for leads, account and opportunity as well as follow-up recommendations. These features help with sales process end-end by making it easy to follow up with clients, leads, and also foster internal collaborations with colleagues on teams.
💼Power Automate - Can build flows with natural languages. Various suggestions pop up when Copilot is enabled.
✅Copilot is not a part or another component of Power Platform. It is a layer or set of features on its own. Yes, it is integrated into Power Platform, just like it is integrated into Dynamics 365, Office etc and anywhere else you find it. However, the Power Platform virtual agent is now a part of Copilot STUDIO - a platform to customize copilot & create standalone copilots.
✅The LLM itself is not being trained on your organizations' data. In terms of security concerns - there are no issues. Copilots is bringing the LLM securely into where you already work. It is more secured than taking your data online to be able to use Al capabilities.
